58 Days To Go Until The First Day Of My New Life!

Recommended Posts

Hi, y'all!! My name is Liz, I am 8 days from being 29, and 58 days from my RNY date!! I have been planning to do this surgery for three years, and cancelled the process twice. I am scared and nervous and anxious....but so excited!! I am currently 330lbs. What makes my story a little different is that my story different is that I am an army wife preparing to send my husband on a deployment. He will be gone to training when I have my surgery, gone for most of the healing, and will deploy three months after my procedure. I am hoping to get a lot of advice and support from this forum, and I look forward to sharing your journey as well!!

Thank you to you and your father as well. Military family rarely gets the appreciation they deserve. So happy that he came back to you safe & sound.

What an awesome surprise for him when he gets back.. one piece of advice that has worked for me is....have a great support system around you.. my family (extended and in-laws) all say we are having the surgery.. they have all made the changes with me.. so I don't feel like I HAVE TO EXERCISE... I HAVE TO WATCH WHAT I EAT... I HAVE TO CHANGE MY LIFESTYLE.. It's so much easier when you change the I to a WE!!! Even some of my coworkers are helping me out ( I work for an AMAZING company) with motivating me and supporting me!!! Even my clients (I work in Home Health) are giving me support..offering up healthy recipies and some are even walking with me even if its a lap or two around their driveways... Support support SUPPORT !

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
