So, those of you who were going through the pre-op liquid diet a few weeks ago: how are you doing now? I've just started and the first day wasn't bad. I'm sure it will get harder during this 2 weeks, though. What do you think? Did it get easier or harder as you went along during pre-op? How about after? Easier or harder than pre-op?

I did a 20 cleanse at one time. Nothing but a homemade lemon aid and salt Water flush in the morning

I never did find out it this is actually true. But it helped me then and I'm going to resort back to it when I start my 14 day pre-op liquid diet

Mental Hunger only last 7 seconds. So don't dwell on how hungry you are try thinking of something else

The first three days will be hell headaches but then it's smooth sailing.

Hope it helps.

I thought it got easier as the dys passed. The first couple were hard. After surgery I was only on liquids for a week. Every week after mt doctor took me to another stage because I was doing so good. I haven't had any problems. Good luck!

I'm 7 days post op as of today. The pre liquid diet got much easier as time went by the post op diet is way better I'm not hungry at all but very thirsty so drinking my fluids isn't a hardship. I am concerned about not having a bowel movement in almost 2 weeks. The good news is I have had nausea only once right after my surgery. I hope all goes well for you good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
