Need Some Food Help

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm having issues. I 'm supposed to be getting more Protein than I think I am. I'm 9 days post op. even with 2 shakes that will give me 34 gms. Of protein I don't understand how I will ever get in the amount I need to meet the requirement needed. A serving of tuna has 10 gms of protein, but the serving size on the can says 1 can. There is no loving way I can get this much in.

60-70 grams is a lot and I'm worried that I'm not going to get in what I need. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm having the same problem. I'm just doing the best I can. I'm not going to worry about it. When I need a snack I usually have some turkey breast with a piece of low fat cheese rolled up. I've tried so many Protein Shakes its not funny.

I just found a Protein Drink that really tastes good. I am only 5 weeks post op and am having the same problem. If you like strawberry milkshakes this is it! Its the Syntrax Nectar strawberry mousse Protein powder....its made to be mixed with milk or whatever you use. Its so good. I use almond milk and fresh strawberries and top it with sugar free cool whip. As soon I took a sip I knew this was my drink finally! And I tried so many! If your a strawberry milkshake lover this is great!

Syntrax C'herry is the most tolerable I have found so far. It tastes like fruit punch.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
