Lap Band surgeons in NH?

Recommended Posts

Wow - that is terrific that you are all getting it done so soon! I am envious. I actually read about that bill (which is terrific) but my insurance does cover lap-band surgery, but only at facilities that have earned the Centers of Excellence status.

So I *think* they would be able to get out of paying for me to have it done in Keene because of that, by saying I could go elsewhere in the state to have it done.

I know that there are other places that are in S. NH which are Centers of Excellence, I just can't take the time off work to go to all of the classes and then the surgery. I work FT and have a baby at home so I am thinking I will just wait until CMC gets certified. According to Pam Morrison they are hoping to be certified within a year from now. I hope I am still kicking in a year!

I wish you, your wife and daughter the best of luck! :girl_hug:

star13 - In the new law, the hospital does not have to be a center of excellence; it just must comply with the American College of Surgeons. Do not wait a year - go for it now! I would be happy to work with you on the insurance issue - they CANNOT deny you or make you wait.

Pam Morrison is a very good friend of my wife and I. I agree Dr. Dupuis seems very nice (and funny). Did you meet with Hima and Amanda? You must have gone to the first info session they had at the hospital; if so, we were in the same "class".

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
