Negative People Around Me...

Recommended Posts

pureed isn't as bad as it sounds. So cottage cheese put through a blender breaks up the lumps but essentially tastes the same. A little skimmed milk can help it along. Don't over-blend i.e. add air otherwise it won't be so good. Quite high Protein and a perfectly healthy meal + its not sweet like the Protein Drinks.< /p>

Thanks! lol I have to figure out how to use the blender first. haha. Im sure I can figure it out. I never cooked or did anything in the kitchen growing up. My mom was a stay at home mom and pretty much did everything so I am still learning. So people really put chicken in a blender? That seems like it would be gross. I may just have to force myself to eat this stuff...I am such a picky eater its hard to find stuff I like. Which is odd because you would think as picky as I am I wouldnt be over weight lol.

If you put cooked meat in a blender I suggest using gravy with it to help make it right for eating in the early weeks after your op, avoid chicken skin which is high fat. Remember its not so bad as it sounds, before cooking sausages and burgers are made in a blender but of course you shouldn't eat sausages as they have skin and are very high in fat (that's what gives them the good taste). Enjoy.

I really never got the negative feedback, it was more that people were surprised that I qualified for the surgery. I don't know if it is because they are all so used to seeing me this size? But I was told at my surgeons office that I am a "light weight" patient. I look at it as I have been overweight all my life, I am morbidly obese, I am pre diabetic, I have a history of heart disease in my immediate family, and I have other weight related health problems. I am doing something about this before it gets worse. But the most important thing is that it is a personal decision and you can only do this for yourself. You are the one going through it and facing all the challenges. I am only 4 days out and this is really hard & it sucks but in the long run it is going to be awesome & I will be so much healthier!

Kim if you don't mind me asking' date=' what was your highest weight? How tall are you?[/quote']

I was at 271 and I am 5'8".

I only had to lose 10 lbs before surgery and I lost about 15.

Lol I see why they called you a light weight. I'm 5'9" and my highest weight was 429. I was 403 the day of surgery and I'm 375 now....can't weight to get out of the 300's altogether

I know, I did have a few people say they were surprised I was doing it. But morbidly obese is morbidly obese & i have had a lifetime of being overweight. It was time to fix it before it got much worse. You are doing great! I hope I do as good as you!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
