I am so nervous I finished up. With all my appointments last Thursday. I am waiting to hear about a date so I can make my pre-op appointments. I hate waiting! I hope they call me tomorrow with some news!

I am new to this. I am 23yrs old. I will be having RNY surgery in June, and I am extremely nervous also. The closer it gets, the more nervous I get. I wish you both the best of luck!

I am getting so nervous! I start my liquid diet in about a week! My date is June 4th! I am struggling with kicking the butts scared of the diet and now freaking out about complications and saggy skin! I wish it was done already I hate all the prep and anticipation. To much time to think about it! Kind of freaking out! Thanks for asking! :) how are you doing?

I'm right there with you!! My date is June fifth! My dr did not require for me to do any type of diet! But have cut soda and any carbonation out of my diet completely! I'm worried because of not having to do any diet I might have complications with the liver thing! I haven't lost anything and maybe even gained a few. I am going to try to do Atkins this week! What does your liquid consist if? As it gets closer the more worried I get!

Jen, as far as I know some surgeons request the liquid diet if you are extremely overweight and in other cases not. I was 360lbs when I went in November for my first consultation. He told me then I had to lose 15-20 lbs before surgery. I ended up losing 30. Don't worry if you haven't been asked to go on a diet just don't gain any :)

Tomorrow is my first of eight weeks of classes. I will have a date about a month from now, and I'm hoping for mid July. My dr. said I don't have to do the liquid diet, except for the last three days, and that is for the liver. I have to say that this site is what is keeping me going, and I am amazed at the generosity and kindness of the people on here.

Onyx,

When I went in for my first consultation with the dr. He never said anything about a diet so I asked him. He said "Well it would benefit you and me but not required!" I worried about the liver thing so I am starting the Atkins diet this week. I weighed 309 that day and I go up and down from there to 315. I go in for my pre op the 22. Hope fully I will be ok!!!

I also did Atkins a month before I went on the liquid diet and that helped and then the liquid diet helped...,if you can tolerate it try to work in the shakes as much as possible. Even if he doesn't need you to lose the weight it will prove to both of you how ready you are! ((hugs))

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
