I had surgery with DR. Ismael Caberra on August 24, 2013 he is a wonderful doctor you will not be disappointed ;). Also was at Mi Doctor Hospital very clean, staff very helpful and there for you within seconds, again will not be disappointed with MI doctor hospital either ;). I went through medical Tourisim WONDERFUL COMPANY everything explained well and regene was my contact there she's very helpful answering any questions you have very quickly via email. Also ask for Necie the cordinator in TJUANA she's fabulous ;). Overall I've lost 40 pounds with pre-op till now. Wish I had done it ALONG TIME AGO ;) Any questions feel free to message me on here.

At MiDoctor they gave me Water and cold greentea after I passed my leak test. I was sleeved by Cabrera/valenzuela and was told to be on Clear Liquids for the first full week and not even worry about Protein until the second week when I started drinking Protein Shakes.< /p>

They have apple juice, Gatorade and green tea. I really did not feel like eating till I got released from hospital wasn't hungry. When I got to hotel I had broth and juice. We stayed at Pablo Amigo it was GREAT on service and ammenties ;). They even went when I got back from hospital and picked up my medication ;). You will be on clear liquid first week or two. I know they told me no Protein for first week but after returning home approx six days after surgery I got really sick (chills, vomit and dehydrated) but was drinking every five min or less. I did protein then and next day felt a lot better just in case that happens? I was scared of leak but think was just very weak and dehydrated :(. I think it takes at least two weeks or longer to get to feeling better but hang in there CAUSE ITS DEFINATELY WORTH IT!! ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
