Hello!

My name is Nikki, and I got the sleeve on September 24th, 2013, the day before my 26th birthday. I am a single mother, a full-time employee, and a full-time student. I'm sure you can tell recovery has been hard on my own. I'm glad I've had my family to help out, but no one really understands what I'm going through, and I've got no one to share the difficult moments with (or the little successes). That is why I created this group!

I hope you enjoy being a part of this group. Take care, and be well. =D

Hello,

My name is Kristen. I am scheduled for the sleeve surgery on Oct. 9th, 2013. So the time is almost here! I'm getting excited and really nervous. I joined this group because I want to talk and interact with others that are going through what I'm going through. I'm 27 years old, live in southern California and am ready to take back my life and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Thank you to Nikki for creating this group!

Kristen

Hi my name is Stacey and I had the sleeve July 9, 2013 and I am also a single mom of 5 kids. A bio and adopted children so no help and no breaks. I totally get the challenges. One thing that helps is planning a few days meals at a time so that when they eat not approved foods I don't have to worry about bad choices being made.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
