SCARED CRAPLESS IM GONNA LOSE SO SLOW ... I'LL FAIL!

Recommended Posts

After reading how SLOW some slow losers lose weight I am scared. I feel like that is why I failed at every other diet/exercise program! The results take too long!! I really hope that even though I am a lower BMI I can still be at GOAL in 6-9 months. I mean that's only like 10lbs a month and that what you should lose when you diet and exercise properly. I guess now I 'm questioning why I even did this for the same slow results:( I am still pre-op but have already paid everything so am going to go through with it I just hope I don't fail due to slow results, and screw it up!

Unfortunately, there is no way to know how quickly you will lose until you start. My recommendation is stay positive and work your program to the fullest. Once you are cleared for solid foods stick with Protein first. Exercise regularly, once you are cleared to do so. The sleeve is a great tool and the program works but you have to follow it. Your body will catch up with your effort, whether it happens quickly or a little less so. Put less pressure on timing and focus on the journey. You will do great!

So what's the alternative? Not having the surgery and not losing the weight??

Oh and 10 pounds a month is not slow!

That would of been a dream for me :P

I had the same worry and sure enough - I AM losing slower than I had hoped - 25 lbs in 6 weeks, but ya know what? Its 25 lbs lighter than I was before! So I keep sticking with the program and someday I'll be at goal. Only you can decide if its right for you, but rest assured we all have doubts and fears - that is normal.

Losing an average of 1 pound per week is typical/recommended without a sleeve. Expecting to lose 10 pounds a month is an optimistic case scenario. Some people do, some people won't. I have a low BMI too, so I expect my loss might be on the slow side. Either way is OK with me.

If you are like me and suffer from Head Hunger caused by the Ghrelin hormone - post-op that near constant nagging sensation to eat will be gone. My entire outlook on food has changed since surgery and I don't feel the cravings to eat a particular food as I did pre-surgery.

It's like a switch was flipped off in my brain. So even if I was losing weight slower than 10lbs a month, the hold Ghrelin had on my brain is gone and I know that every pound down is not going to come back.

Thanks for the replies. I am an emotional eater so when I get discouraged or depressed I eat, I'm hoping with the hormone gone I can at least control that, and that should help.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
