Pre op uk aprehensive but know its got to be done and maybe find love as the new me :)

Recommended Posts

Hi all I have been on a pre op diet of 800 calories a day which was the best option for me as I can use calories for milk in Decaf coffee and also have polo mints as well as a little normal ish food I have lost 11 kilo (23lb) in three weeks and have pre op appointment in the morning ( October the 1st) .. I am a bit like a fish out of Water in hospitals and I am beginning to get apprehensive but I know without it the weight I have currently lost will return it always does plus a lot more .. I never thought I would get this close as I used to easily eat 6000 calories a day and was close to being bed ridden and at the point of giving up :( my ankles hurt and I had bad acid at night .. Then my partner left me for another and despite bring fat I always provided for the family and gad a warm heart ... Yes I am scared about the op on the 9th but have found wonderful warm stories from all on here and I just wanted to say if I have got this far you can too as I was out if control eating wise .. I have thoughts of next summer in my head hoping I am in a good place weight wise can get nicer clothes on and maybe get back some confidence and even perhaps find love again .. RIchard x

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
