Any tips??

Yep....take a deep cleansing breath.... In....... Slowly let it out........ And there you go!

Ok at one week I did not even weigh myself yet I was still swollen and sore! I know I was probably up..

So at this same point you have lost only 8 pounds?? Girl! That more than awesome!

What did you want to lose in a week? Because 8 pounds considering the trauma your body has gone through recently, is freaking fantastic.

Don't stress I'm in the same boat so I can understand the worry. Surgery was 9/16 and I weighed 232 and today I weigh 225.4 . Lost 19lbs pre op and am so stressed and disappointed about this lack of weight loss. Tried asking surgeon at 1 week check up and he was unconcerned about it but I'm going crazy with worrying that I'm not doing enough. I hope the scale starts moving for us both!

Wow, how much did you expect to loose per week? If one is able to maintain a 2 pound weight loss per week that is a terrific rate. We lose more weight in the fist couple of weeks because of the trauma to the body, and then most everyone hits the week 3 plateau while their body adapts to all the changes and they lose nothing! When you move through the plateau and start losing again, 2 - 3 pounds per week is really a good weight loss. Remember the sleeve is a TOOL it isn't a magic wand, although you will read a lot of posts with people with high weight loss, if you lurk on this site you will see that a more reasonable expectation is about 2 pounds per week.

I asked my surgeon about being a slow loser when I saw him 6 weeks post op. I had only lost 22lbs. He said not to worry about it and not to stress over it. He also said the majority of the time when you see huge losses in the beginning it has more to do with fluids than anything else. He said that it's not until about 3 months out that your Fluid retention and fluctuation really starts to level out but to be patient and stick with the plan! The scale will move, I promise!!!

That's AWESOME...don't start comparing your journey to anyone else...I've heard slow steady weight loss may be beneficial inking run in regards to hair loss and the shock on your body. Exhale and give yourself a pat on the back for a successful 1st week

I was sleeved on 09/18 and to date I've lost 17 pounds.

However I expected to put on weight as so many other people have previously. I am over the moon and you should be too. Any weight loss after major surgery is a huge bonus.

Remember this is enforced Portion Control for life. The doctor does his job but the rest is up to you. Go for it girl and take the losses when they come.

Thank You all so much! I really appreciate the encouragement! It really means a lot ! I am doing everything as instructed. I'll move to puréed foods on Tuesday. I'm going to continue to take those deep breaths..lol! I am excited about the weight loss, but I'm in apart of a gastric family so they kinda made me feel like an un-achiever. Again, Thank You all!! I'll keep you posted!!

My surgery was 9/17 too. 3 days post op I was up 10 pounds, which I assumed was fluids and today I am 22 pounds less than me pre-op weight. I assume most of that is also fluids. Either way, I'm not worried because each time I see ANY number lower than before on the scale, I do a little happy dance because I promise that previous number is not one I will ever see again. I have found that just a few minutes every couple of hours on my treadmill had greatly helped with the soreness. Every day I challenge myself to add even one more minute.

I was sleeved on 9/16 weight was 195 and left the hospital at 210. Today I am now 191. I was very upset about the Fluid retention only because I was not informed that this may happen. I am satisfied with my weight loss so far.

I lost a whole 5 lbs. my first week. :0(. Had a melt down. Talked to some prior rny friends and they eased my mind. Slow and steady. One day at a time. I am starting this week today with a fresh outlook. I can do this. It will happen. So can you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
