3 days post op and tired

Recommended Posts

I'm three days post op and I'm consistently tired. All I want to do is sleep.. I get up a walk around every hour or so. But I want to go back to bed afterward. I'm also finding it a little hard to get my Water in. I'm drinking broth just fine. Any suggestions?

I was sleeved on 9/9 and what youre feeling is normal. Keep doing what youre doing. Sleep-to heal, get up hourly and walk around. Each day increase the amount of walking you are doing or maybe try sitting up in a chair a few times a day as opposed to being in bed. I used an adult 'sippy type cup' the first 4-5 days and even while I was lying in bed would keep it next to me to take sips from. The only thing that I could get down easily was water-cool. The fld intake will get easier and each day you will get stronger just dont slack on the walking. Today on day 10, I feel great! I am no longer on pain meds, Im doing light household chores and really feel almost 'normal'. You will get there too! Hang in there and happy healing. Stay positive.

P.S. One day last week I sat outside for about 30 minutes in the zero gravity chair and soaked up some Vitamin D. I felt a little better getting fresh air. Just make sure it's not hot outside. Hope this helps! :)

You are doing great for three days post op!

More of the same and keep trying to get your Water in - maybe add a little dash of something to it to make it go down easier - neat Water is actually hard to drink with a new stomach. I'm not in the US, so other posters will be able to tell you what they used. But hang in there, it does get better :-) - and congratulations

I am also three days post op, and feeling pretty listless, struggling to get all my fluids in. I think this is normal. Hoping it gets better!

I felt the same way after my surgery. I thought I was doing the right thing by resting in bed to heal my body after surgery but I just was not getting better. I was more tired every day. When I went for my 2 week follow up, my doctor actually yelled at me. He said "I told you that you have to Move!" I thought I had gone in to get clearance for exercise but he had given me clearance while in the hospital. I didn't remember that . Anyway, I went home all upset got on my bike for 20 min. Well, to my surprise, I felt like a new person the next day. I had to take back all those bad words I had called my doctor. ;) if you want to feel better...sip, sip, sip and try to get Protein in AND move your body! You'll feel better soon.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
