How do you track your calories?

Recommended Posts

I track mine in MFP. Right now I consume around 600 cal, <25 fat grams, and shoot for 48-60oz of liquid (which is super hard), and 60 grams of Protein (which is also super hard)!

My Fitness Pal app. Daily goals are 700 calories, 70g Protein, 64oz of Water. I don't necessarily track fat, but I do try to limit the carbs below 50g. I love that MFP let's you see a cool graph that shows your carbs, fat, and protein percentages. Really helpful!

I also use myfitnesspal. For the first 8 months I was doing between 700-900 calories, less then 50 g carbs(usually less then 20), and at least 70 g of Protein, and 96 oz of Water. I am now doing between 900-1200 calories, less then 50 g carbs, between 120-150 g protein, and 128 oz of water. Don't worry about fat. Good Luck.

MyFitnessPal too... I drink 65-80oz of Water a day, take in 700-900 calories and try to take a minimum of 60g of Protein and have taken in as high as 89.

MyFitnessPal. I am 9 months out and the only things I really pay attention to are calories and Protein, although I have never been great at getting all my protein in. If I get 60 it's a good day. I eat 1100-1200 calories a day and I limit carbs to some extent- like not eating a lot of Pasta, rice, potatoes, or bread, but I'm not a Nazi about it. The days I work, however, lots of times I eat less than 1000 cals, I'm too busy either working or sleeping (12 hr night shifts). I am still losing fine, minus the stalls which last 2-3 weeks. I am 5 lbs from goal.

I use MFP. Goals are under 800 calories, 60 g carbs, 30 g fat. My MFP goal for Protein is set at 70 g due to MFP's wonky macro setting formula, but my "real" daily minimum for protein is 75 g. Also 64 oz. Water and at least 80 oz. fluids overall.

I also track Calcium. My goal is to get 150% of my RDA from food, more if possible. My overall goal is to get 200% RDA of calcium. So at the end of the day I know how much I need to take in the form of calcium supplements. I really try to minimize calcium supplements because of studies showing the health problems associated with taking them long term (heart attacks, cardiovascular problems, kidney stones, etc.).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
