I was sleeved Oct 1. I have sharp pains in the upper right quadrant every time I take a drink. I'm not nauseated at all and am keeping it all down. I can just feel everything I swallow move through me and hit like a punch in the gut when it gets to the upper right side. Normal?

That's exactly how I feel... Maybe it's gas?!?! I can feel every sip going down. The dr. Said I might get too much air in when I sip...

It has seemed to help taking smaller sips. I still can't decide if I like room temp or cold drinks better. I hate Protein Shakes because they taste like milk, but I have found several flavors of the SOBE life Water that I can tolerate. I'm happy that I'm not nauseated. I just wish I didn't have to swallow anything. I can't wait for the two week mark when I can have an egg! :-)

I am 4 days post op and feeling pretty good. So far no major complications and I even came home from the hospital a day early. My surgeon requires everyone to wear a drain for a week post op, it's annoying but I guess it's a good thing. I am having trouble getting all of my Water and Protein down. Every time I drink I feel like I need to burp for it to go down, hopefully this is temporary. sleep has been an issue, I seem to be up every couple of hours through the night.

Well today seems better for me. I've already been able to drink 22oz today and I ate 2tbs of Greek vanilla Protein yogurt. In the next hour I'm going to drink a whey bullet. Watermelon. The grape I had yesterday wasn't that bad. I think tonight I'm going to have some Soup. If I can keep it up. sleeping has been awful. A couple hours here and there. How's everyone else doing?

sleep is about the same... A few hours at night. I had a lot of neck pain but it passed after a few days. I'm doing better getting liquids down.... Except my Protein Shakes. They are grossing me out. I never had a problem before. But I am starting to get hungry now lol. My Dr. Didn't say I could have anything other than Clear Liquids til after a week. I'm still sore. But I am gonna try a light walk tonight. After it cools down.

I'm sleeping pretty well. Before surgery, I was drinking a hundred ounces of Water per day. My bladder always woke me up at 330,and it still is. So I'm used to getting up in the middle of the night. I do have to nap in the daytime, about 4pm every day so far I just crash

I'm having a hard time getting all my liquids in. I've gotten over 35oz today. Just liquids this evening. No Soup. How much do you try to drink a hour?

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been days since I posted, I have been miserable, it hurts to drink, I can't hardly eat anything, lots of gas bubbles with every drink or bite. This morning my family made me a berry smoothie, it's the first thing I could get down without much pain. I have been waking up every two hours at night, waking up early and taking a afternoon nap. I have been feeling kinda weak, but I am sure it's from the lack of food :( I hope y'all are doing better then I have been doing. I guess the only good point in this for me so far is that I have lost a total of 16 pounds, 10 before surgery and six since. Looking for easier days.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
