Hi everyone, I was sleeved on 8/27.

Surgery went well. Two days in the hospital.

Been taking it easy, resting alot, but walking every day.

Drinking a Protein Shake a day and getting in about 4-5 8 oz bottles of Water, that I add Liquid Protein to

I am extremely frustrated because I have lost 1 lb in the past two weeks since surgery, the rest of what I lost was pre surgery diet.

I am cleared to eat soft foods starting 9/17. I went ahead and started this week with mashed potatoes, and small bites of chicken and hamburger that i chew til its liquid, soft cheese and cream of wheat. I know I should not have and now I am a bit worried.

Tonite I had three bites of a salad, lettuce and dressing. that I chewed really well. Because I am starting to obsess about food and chewing again. I am only eating a few oz here and there through the day

I am trying hard not to eat, but I am having a really hard time dealing with the liquid. I have had no problems, I eat very small amounts and work on going slow. I have not had pain or gotten sick.

I dont know if it is ok to continue or if I should just go back to liquid only for a while.

I am now worried that I have messed up. Have I sabotaged myself? I am not looking to be scolded or to be judged, this is the only place I felt I could post to perhaps find people in the same situation as me.

thans for taking the time to read

First, welcome.

Second explore the site, you'll find a lot of your issues there... sabotage, "I only lose", liquids, etc.

Lastly, DO NOT be creative. Follow YOUR program. Be strict.

And of course ask away!!!

Hey Red, not sure if you're in therapy, but if not, maybe you should consider speaking with one. You said you're beginning to obsess over food. That's where the problem is. Everything you're eating is really not healthy at this stage. You must follow your NUT and doctor's orders. You do not want to stretch your sleeve out. Good luck

You are not healed. You could cause yourself to have a leak. Only eat what they say until you are healed and that will be 6 plus weeks out.

Red I have the same problem. I'm not obsessed with eating I just don't feel the restriction. I get all my Water in and Protein Shakes, jell-o no problem. I've felt so good that I dabbled in soft foods, Tomato Soup, refried Beans etc. I guess my key is limiting it to no more than a 1/4 cup at a time. No pain or discomfort and feeling good. But I have read of others who can't tolerate this. Go figure?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
