Broth? Homemade or Store bought?

I have a while to go and I don't have a date yet, but I was reading the info for the pre-op liquid diet and it says I can have fat free broth. does anyone have recipes or brands that are good?

When I was looking, I found that the Rachel Ray Stock In A Box had the lowest sodium out of all the ones I compared it to.

Just a heads up organic broth is the best...but good luck getting it down, I would stay away from it. I had Rachael rays and it was good.

I started my pre op with store bought and hated it, made my family a roast a few days before surgery and kept the broth for myself and it was heaven! If I had it to do over again I would have both chicken and beef broth made, frozen in individual servings and ready to pop out and thaw when I wanted them. Was very handy to have the frozen beef broth in the freezer waiting when I got home from surgery.

do you just boil a chicken or roast, the strain the fat? if you can't tell I don't do a lot of cooking

I use better then bouillon and mix with Water. It has 0.5g of fat per 1 tsp (per cup). I mix 1 tsp with about 12-17 oz of water and sip during the day. Tastes good and is easy to fix for those of use without talent in the kitchen.

On that one I cooked the roast in a crockpot all day with plenty of Water to make my broth. I then put the finished broth in a bowl and put in the fridge to cool. Once it's cold, the fat all rises to the surface and hardens so you can just grab a slotted spoon and scoop out the fat. For a chicken I would put the chicken in a large pot and I boil them on top of the stove for 45 minutes to an hour then do the same fridge procedure with the broth. Gladware has 4 oz. containers that are great for pre and post op prep. I out my broth in those containers and put them in the freezer. I also used them to make my own Jello up for pre op. Just tastes better than ready made. When that's all you can have you want to at least enjoy what you're eating.

I froze my homemade broth in ice cubes. Each cube is about two ounces.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
