I have a question. Has anyone noticed that their sense of smell and taste is different? I feel like I am hypersensitive and smells make me nauseous Also some foods do not taste the same to me at all. I am still having some trouble eating solids and they can come back up on me so it is really trial and error. My preop weight was 217 the day of my surgery 8/30 I was 207 and today I am 180. I really like the lack of hunger but I do not enjoy food at all and also still have bad reflux despite the hiatal hernia repair? Any help or comments would be appreciated.

Yes my sense of smell is off the chain right now and everything makes me nauseous. I don't know what's that about but it is driving me crazy.

Its so great I checked this out. Its exactly 8 weeks since my surgery. I was 357 day of. I forget my weight at the one month mark but can day tod ay 8 weeks later I'm 317 so a loss of 40. I was getting so frustrated because I think I lost 30 first month and only 10 this month but it sounds like we are all in the same boat. What I do know is I've gone down through 3 different goal pants and clothes are fitting much better. Also I loved Water and hate it now unless its ice cold....odd...and I now can smell an onion a mile away.

Ive been bad with Protein I don't keep track and don't drink my drinks....but then I try to eat high proetin foods.

So frustrated I haven't lost more my second month but then again happy I haven't gained! !

Same here with the water. It needs to be ice cold for me too. ????

I have a silly question. Does Soup count as liquid or food. It's not solid food so its essentially not going To fill me up. I made Portuguese soup and it's basically puréed potatoes with Water and collard greens. Nothing really solid

I would call it liquid. No real Protein either. I would put some Unflavord Protein Powder in a bowl and see how it goes.

The concerns I have (and this is for me, personally) would be the carbs from the potatoes & the lack of protein.....I don't eat a lot of carbs.....like SeaGirl, I'd put in some unflavored Protein powder.....since it has some solids in it, not sure if I'd count it 100% as a liquid....but that's a good question....on the full liquids phase, we counted the creamed Soups as liquid, right?

I am 8 weeks out now I haven't lost a tremendous amount of weight in pounds but I can definitely be a size change. I'm at least two sizes down. As far as tastes and smells go, I get sick at certain smells and certain things I cannot eat. Beef themes to be a problem with me. I've been sticking to Protein Bars to get all my Protein in I haven't tried salads yet. I'm a little hesitant to add a variety of new foods in just yet.

Hmmm so am I doing this wrong? I mean I can pretty much eat any type of food I want. Just very dmall amounts. I eat when hungry and drink when thirsty. I f eel like I should be having more trouble as most others are. Makes me think mine I'd workimg right? Doesent help I've been stalled for 12 days

I'm sure you are doing it right. Everyone is different. I too can eat anything but extremely small amounts. I do find the weeks I don't lose as much are the weeks I go carb crazy. Just keep going...you will eventually move down the scale again. Good luck!

Some days are great, some are more of a challenge as I adjust to being sleeved. Overall, I have been able to eat everything, but not much of anything. I have great energy and am happier about everything in life than I have been in years. Tuesday, I had a headache, craved BarBQue as I drove up I-35 in TX (every billboard was for BarBQue or Jerky), and my head hunger was nuts. Weds I was back to being satisfied and grateful, not nutty. Goes to show that takin it one day at a time can really help.

Tonight I walked with my hubbie and I wasn't winded or sore! Down 45-50 lbs since end of June. Makes moving the bod much easier. Loving my sleeve!

Hello sleeved August 18,2013. I am down 45 lbs. I have set two goals, my first is going from 245 surgery weight to 200 lbs current weight , This took me 2 1/2 months. My next goal is to reach 150-160. Depending on how I feel and look. My health issues prior to surgery is gone. I feel wonderful I have gone down 2 pants sizes and 3 dress sizes. This journey is not a quick fix in my book. It took years to get to where surgery was my only option to becoming healthy again. So one day at a time and slow and steady for me. I am eating very small meals. More Water is key This journey is something that I would consider all over again Hope all of you sleevers know how great this experience is and hearing all if you stories is outstanding keep up the great work. Till next time

Day if surgery 245

2 1/2 months later 200

Checking in on my fellow August sleevers. Running into the frustration of being finished before anyone else at the table. Still can only eat about 6 or 7 bites. Working on slowing down each and every time. Think i am down to nearly two minutes a bite lol. Love, love, love my new stomach. It is doing it's job by getting me full with just a little bit. Upped my Protein intake because I have more hair strands in my brush and comb. Have become great friends with cottage cheese, as too many Protein Drinks in a day become tiresome. So far I have lost 44.8 lbs...sleeved 8/29/13. Hope everyone else is feeling better since we are a little further out from our surgery month. Good luck to all.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
