7 months Post Op and about to enter panic mode!

Recommended Posts

VSG Family I need help. I'm 7 months post op and to date I've lost 83 pounds from my highest weight of 426. I'm about 17 pounds from hitting my 100 pound weight loss and very happy but I fill like I'm going backwards. I'm feeling like I did prior to surgery that the weight will never come off. I need suggestions on how to get back on track. Has anyone post op felt this way and if so what did you do to break the back tracking?

Sincerely,

Felling like I'm failing

You're NOT going backwards! Your weight loss has been incredible! To the extent you have been off the wagon, now you gotta get back on the horse!! You know what to do.... Less carbs, more Protein, make sure you are getting your Water in. Cut out any sugar you're eating. It's just like in the beginning (where I am!!!) - once sugar goes in, cravings start. Once you get the sugar out of the system, the cravings subside. YOU CAN DO THIS! (And, you're doing great! Don't be too hard on yourself!)

First off, congrats on the weight loss! Start celebrating your successes and cut yourself some slack! Ditto on the getting back to basics. Maybe also write down a list of things you are now able to do that you weren't 83 pounds ago....like smaller cloths sizes, having an easier time getting around, etc.

You've got this, girl. Just do what you know is best for you. Keep on pushing.

I have a friend that had the bypass. She lost 100 pounds in a year, then gained 30 back. She went back to journaling, working out, low carb, no sugary stuff. She had to battle but she ended up losing the 30 plus another 20. This was 2 years out for her. You might lose slower now, but you'll get rid of those 17 pounds!

Best advice ,right on the money sugar is just as bad as drugs for some of us.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
