100 mile challenge

Recommended Posts

Wow you guys are all doing so well. I'm so pleased at how this thing has grown and I hope next month is even better. I hope you all stay in it and try to top this month in October. It just goes to show you....goal setting really works. And not just vague "I'm gonna get in shape" goals. But specific, measurable goals that you can reach for....it's helped me and I'm inspired by all of you for reaching for this goal.

Keep it up.

It's like you're talking to me! I was just thinking last night how I'm going to take it easy next month...but, why??? Why am I trying to sabotage myself? So, here I am committing to the next challenge. And, I will definitely do more than 100 miles next month!

I got in 5.5 miles yesterday. I was hoping to do another 9 miles but I just had too much to do. That brings me to 89.21 total miles...only 10.79 to go! I will definitely reach 100 miles by Monday...maybe more!

I am thrilled that so many of y'all have made it, or are right in the verge of it. But as I've said all along, no matter what you end up with, the point is to push yourself just a little bit. Next month, try for a little bit more. That's growth. It's never easy or comfortable, but it pays off huge. Who here doesn't feel a swell of pride at the total you've put up so far? I know you all do....I do to. Next month will be even better, and hopefully we'll have more folks joining in. By November hopefully I'll be able to get back in and get some serious walking miles on and maybe a few light jogging miles by Thanksgiving.

So this morning I took a ridiculously long trail run....... 9.2 miles. I'm pooped to be honest, but it felt great knowing I could do it. Just a month ago those miles would have killed me, now it's just another day....not an easy day, but manageable. Tomorrow will be my last run, I need a day of rest before Mondays surgery.

Day 29...9.2 miles.....137.5 total.

I did another 24 miles on the bike this morning, too bad I didn't read this thread earlier. Good luck on your upcoming surgery, Butter!

Just two hours, the time goes by pretty quickly because my mind is on whatever television show I'm watching lol.

I'm doing The Color Run 5K in the morning, my first 5K since surgery. I took a tumble this week down my stairs and broke my wrist. I really thought I wouldn't be able to do this run but I'm not as sore as I thought I would be so I'm gonna try even if I have to walk some of it. Wish me luck.

Good luck....that fall does not sound good. You're a trooper for running anyway. Those color runs are a blast. Enjoy.

I want to thank you for starting this challenge. It has been a major thing for me. I have exercised more in the last month than I have in the last 20 years. Seeing both my numbers and everyone else's numbers has been extremely motivating every day. I will make sure that the October challenge is started and hopefully we can gain a few more, as you put it, fitness freaks. This group has become a little family for me and love seeing everyone's progress. Thank you my friend.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers Monday morning, I will be at the hospital myself Monday morning waiting patiently as my beautiful wife goes in for her surgery to be sleeved. It will be a great and fun journey for us to do together.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
