100 mile challenge

Recommended Posts

A short 2 miles today split up into sprinting segments of 800 m. Felt like road runner. :) total: 97.5.

The sprints were in between pull ups, double unders and kettle bell sets. A good met-con. :)

Hey BTB- how in the world are you running with a broken toe? A few posts (or pages) back you stated you had 2 more runs to do this week. Crazy!

Hey. Well I did my stress test yesterday at the cardiologists office. That's the first time I've ran on a treadmill in years. By the end he had that incline cranked all the way up but I was determined not to quit. I ran at 170 bpm heart rste for 3-4 minutes before he shut it down. No toe pain really.

So this morning I did 4 miles doing overpass repeats getting ready for a 10K this weekend. So for me, that's day 19...76.1 miles.

Those 3 days off killed a nice roll I was on but I'll make it up before the 30th.

Hey, All Challenge Peeps! I woke thinking of this. I'll bet many of you (US!) didn't realize how active you have become since you probably didn't track it. Granted we've stepped up our game, but in The long haul, think of what true transformation has taken place in our lives through VSG, Change of diet and plain ole exercise!! hard work pays off!!!

Ok - good job at setting an example of pushing through adversity to achieve a goal. It is admirable.

I soooooo did not want to do anything today after my crazy work-day yesterday but I got my butt into the gym and rode 6 miles on the stationary bike, 1 mile on the elliptical and did 40 minutes of strength training bringing my milage to 64.6. I think if it weren't for this challenge I wouldn't have pushed myself. Thanks Butter!

pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2

Today I walked 2.28 miles and just finished a 3.04 mile ride on my bike in the garage. I stopped because my knee that I had surgery on last year for a torn meniscus started bothering me. I had to listen to it and stop. No biggee, just needed a break. That put me at 5.32 miles today and a total of 66.4 miles for the month. Great job everyone! Keep it up!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!
