I'm 31, and have been struggling, back and forth, with my weight for my entire life. I've been through phases where I was very healthy, and not at all overweight (even used to be a distance runner,) and then for whatever reason it would come rushing back even more than before....off and on like that for many years.

Essentially, I reached a point where I started getting serious health problems like diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, liver disease, hypertension, etc. So after considerable reserach, I decided to get "sleeved."

I did on 8-21-13, and the journey has just begun for me. I'll get to try pureed foods for the first time tomorrow....kind of excited to see how it feels!

Great to find this community.

Best,

Justin H

Welcome, Justin. This forum has been so helpful to me, I hope you enjoy it as much as me. Your excitement for puréed food may wane after a bit, but your on the right track. :)

Welcome! I was sleeved on 8/19, so we're at about the same place on this ride. :) This site is very helpful; I'm sure you'll learn a lot like all of us! Congrats on your sleeve!

Well, it will be a nice change from the liquid only diet, and I only have to do the puree thing for a week, so hopefully it won't be too bad ;)

Hi Justin... I was also sleeved 8/21. There are a bunch of us august sleevers here. You will find support... my biggest problem has been getting enough Protein/food.... upped myself to pureed also... My best tolerated food thus far besides the obvious liquids...is Greek yogurt! Didn't like it at first....but it grows on ya and you crave it. goes down easy. Good luck!!!

Hi there...I was sleeved on 8/15 and have had no problem with pureed. Although I sorta avoided pureed meets. My favorite has been super fine ground beef with taco seasoning over refried Beans with sour cream and salsa! I also enjoy roasted red pepper and Tomato Soup. I add bipro unflavored Protein to most everything I eat!

Good luck, Steph

Had my first pureed food this morning. Scrambled egg pureed with a small amount of low-fat cheese and some spices....that was sooo satisfying :) Finally something other than a Protein shake or a popsicle.

I was able to eat about 1/4 cup total of the puree, and it seems to be working its way through my system slowly, but fine.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
