I am 4 weeks post op and getting light headed any time I look down even if it's to put something in the oven...anyone else have this problem or have any idea why this would be happening?

My husband and I have been having this. Two suspects for us. Low calories for sure. For him also he is on BP meds and sometimes his BP falls low. We both have to be very careful about getting up suddenly or bending over. We're about 3-4 weeks post op.

I'm about 3 weeks out and I've been experiencing this too, especially today. I'm trying to get my fluids in and I think I'll get my blood pressure checked tomorrow. It's a bit scary!

I get it at 6 months out.

My BP is typically around 100/70-90/60 so they think it might be low. Also potassium, B12, and Iron deficiencies could cause that.

Dehydration is always a good culprit as well.

Have your medications been adjusted after your weight loss? Mine have been cut to 1/4 of what they were and I am weaning myself off blood pressure med.

Also are you taking your Vitamins? Have your primary care physician run all of your Vitamin levels -- Iron, B12, Vit D, Potassium and Sodium.

Good luck to you.

I'm 6 months out and if I get up quick I get very dizzy. Dr says very common since we eat very little sugar

Sometimes it's from lack of salt. My dr said to eat broth or Protein Soup. Also, when u lose weight, your BP meds might need to be decreased.

So glad to here this! I am 2 May months out and constantly getting dizzy & light headed when I go to stand up. Also, sluggish again & no appetite. Just started Iron pills today. Hopefully that will help.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
