Hunger, Energy Shift 5 Months out

Recommended Posts

I've been cruising along, not losing at a rapid rate, but doing pretty good and I'm content with that. The last two weeks, suddenly things are changing for me. I feel hunger almost all the time and I can eat all the time. I eat less at a time, but I can eat all darned day. I'm craving things again, and I'm really tired. I'm not sleeping well, and on that note I've never been a great sleeper but it's gotten worse, just recently. I get in my Protein, always between 80 and 100 grams and most of this is adding Protein to Water so I get my liquids in. I had my blood work done about a month ago and my Vitamins are good, everything looked great.

I am going to attempt to do an all liquid thing for the next couple days, maybe "reset" myself. I was just curious if this is a normal occurrence at this time? It just seems really to have gone extreme. I went from not really being hungry and just doing my thing to wanting to chew my arm off. I need to work out, but honestly I am so tired that I can barely move by the time I get home from work. Working out is never going to be first choice for me, but I literally want to fall asleep behind the wheel as I'm driving home!

I was told the farther out you are the more you'll see an increase in hunger. It's good that your energy also increased. Maybe you'll need to increase your workouts to get tired enough to sleep well.

I would say, don't fall back on old habits. Keep eating/drinking like you've been until now. Maybe you need to add a bit more veggies/low sugar fruits to your meals.

Do you follow the guidelines closely?

Eat lean Protein first

Don't drink just prior during or within half an hour after a meal

Exercise

I find the closer I stick to these guidelines, the less I deal with the issues you mention, even at +2 years out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
