I started my consultation on July 12th. I needed a psych eval, blood work and a upper GI series. Everything was then turned in to my insurance I got approved in 2 days. Then everything was signed off by my dr and within a week I had my surgery date.

Met my new surgeon, Dr. Marymor today. I am soooo EXCITED!!! The entire staff from the receptionist to the medical assistant to the nutritionist and of course the doctorwere soooo welcoming. I felt really at home. The doctor is very straight forward. Explained everything and answered all my questions. I had 98% of the required tests already done so I just need an upper GI and an H. Pylori screen which are scheduled for next week. Then its submission to insurance. I cant beleive how thorough and experienced he is!! I am soooo glad I chose to change surgeons. I am very greatful for the replies I have received to my different posts. Dr. marymor said once he receives my results fr the last 2 tests, I will be scheduled for surgery in 4-6 weeks!! YAY!!!! I want to live again soooo bad instead of merely existing..

Had mine at barix in Michigan with Dr Pop. The nice thing about barix is that its all they do. You get an awesome book with recipes and a bunch of other great info, nutrition counseling, etc. They pretty much let me dictate the speed of the process. They also scheduled my surgery at a specific date that I needed because I had a small window to get it done, and they made it work

Thanks for the reply Justin. 'm so desperate to live again. All I do is go to work and stay in my house. People say I dont need the surgery but they are not me. I'm a hermit right now and at 43 yrs old I dont want to keep doing this. I cant wait to get these 2 final tests completed. Luckily I'm a medical assistant so I draw my own blood. lol.. and thurs I get the upper gi so I should have everything into Dr. Marymor by Friday. He said I needed to do a 10 day pre-op diet but I can have Jello and sugar free popsicles. I love bot of these item so the 10 days wont bother me. I want to get to 125. Im 239 right now. sleeping with the cpap is great but Im tired of it and its not sexy when I just got married 1 yr ago. So I look forward to joining the land of the living again.

Fred, you are in good hands with Dr. Pop. He's done thousands of bariatric surgeries--it's all he ever does. He took good care of me and I haven't had any complications. Except that I have to keep changing my wardrobe because my waist is shrinking so fast! ;)

I am going to be sleeved at Barix in Langhorne. I just sent over my insurance approval letter. I am making the drive from Baltimore Maryland (2 hour drive) I am worried and nervous. My husband will be with me the day of surgery, then is going home until I am released. I am just wondering how long is the stay? Are the rooms private? Can my hubby stay if I need him? Any information would be wonderful!!! Thanks!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
