Starting to freak out a bit!

Recommended Posts

Ok so last Wednesday I mailed out my deposit. I have tracked it and know its there at the post office in Eagles Pass. My liquid diet is supposed to start by Thursday at latest. I guess they didn't go get mail today, which means I still have no clue as to what my liquid diet will be. I'm starting to really get upset. I have taken so long to plan this and like to be prepared for everything I do. This isn't my norm, I feel like it will have to be rushed now. Ugh!! Other than this hiccup the rest of the process has been pretty smooth. Maybe I'm just obsessing and being impatient. Either way, sorry for the vent but I have no support outside of this group as I have chose to keep the surgery to myself. Thanks.

Email susan she is very responsive. But I can tell you what the diet will be. 3-4 Protein shakes a day and 2-3 cups of vegetable Soup. She will send you the recipe. Make the whole recipe, split it into two-three pots and add different flavors to each to keep it interesting. The veggies in it are non-starchy so no corn, peas, potatoes, etc. Rather its onions, garlic, cabbage, broccoli, green Beans, and tomatoes. So if you want to get ready for Thursday today, run out and get some of those and the Protein Shakes. Keep your calories to 800-1000 per day with the shakes and the Soup (on my fitness pal, that soup had 50 calories for a cup) and you are all set!

Thank you so much!! This does help me prepare and shop for what I need. What types of shakes do you recommend? I have Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacements in chocolate. I'm sure ill get tired of that quick.

My fav ones are Syntrax mint chocolate chip and the chike coffee. We can semi-stand the Syntrax Cookies and cream but we're not liking many others. I can still drink the premier Protein ready made ones from SAMs/Costco.

Thanks so much! I will head out to Sams now. Premade sounds a lot easier for now. What I have is chocolate that tastes great with skim milk, but gets so thick I can barely stand to drink it.

I just received my 12 sample packages from Syntrax. It took 2 weeks to for shipping but so worth it. Total cost including shipping $13. That's a steal. I have strawberry kiwi, crystal sky, vanilla bean, pink grapefruit, lemon tea, Twisted cherry, apple ecstacy, lemonade, chocolate truffle, strawberry mousse, Cappuccino and caribbean cooler. WOW, what a combo. You have to call and request the sample package 888 333 7404. Good luck.

I had no idea that Syntrax makes a mint choc chip flavor! Now I'm excited! Wonder if they have it at the Vitamin Shoppe? On Amazon it's about $10 more than my Syntrax nectar Cappucino. And it's got alot more calories I just read it. And 6 gms of carbs. But it sure sounds yummy!

We SO look forward to it! We save it for the last one of the night so that even if we are sick of trying to eat at night, we might swallow that one without too much fuss. :) I bought my son one and he loves it too. It's got that minty, cooling thing on your tongue. To me, it tastes exactly like a milkshake. Yum.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
