No. regrets here. I am 25 days out from surgery. I feel great and am so happy. I wish I would have done this years ago. I have lost 21 pounds. I am

finally confident that I will lose this weight and my addiction to food is gone!

My journey just began but I do have one real regret....that I didn't do this sooner! Like at least 10 years sooner!

I made up my mind before surgery that this was a complete life changer for me. Not saying that I have had weaknesses but after surgery- and after my two week liquid only diet- I didn't WANT to eat bad things anymore. Still don't- almost 9 weeks out.

No regrets. No complications. Only regret was not trying to understand why I eat. I am now but should have sooner. Surgery did not make my desire to TURN to food less. It makes me consume less makes me try to determine what is making me run to the fridge (thank goodness o ly sugar free Popsicles are there).

Date nite seems like a challenge some days.....but I eat so little hubby gets his faves all the time...bonus for him. :).

Down to 170. 15lbs from goal. Would have surgery again tomorrow

I still think about food but since I can't eat more than 3 bites, it's not an obsession like it once was. I feel too full when I eat food so it's not that attractive to me anymore. I'm actually a bit disgusted at watching other people eat.

If you want to search "regrets" and "complications" you'll find plenty here. It's good to be informed that the procedure is not without it's risks, though that tells you nothing about how your particular surgery will go. It's most important to realise that the sleeve is no cure-all; people call it a "tool" for a reason, not to be annoying. Just like a great set of tools won't turn any old bloke (or gal) into a fine carpenter, a sleeve alone won't solve all your weight issues for all time.

I don't regret my sleeve for a second (nearly 4 months out) but I'm realising more than ever how much I've got to learn and master about me and my relationship with food. The more posts I read by long termers, the more I realise my experience is a common one. Probably even the "normal" one.

Total regret here. Living with this dark cloud above me has made my life hell. I shouldn't of had the surgery having any doubts of wanting to go through with it. Too late. It's done. Trying my best to move on. I pray everyday I can move past all this. God Bless.

I am so sorry to hear you are having regrets. I have heard some depression is to be expected after the surgery, so hopefully your regrets will be temporary and you will soon be feeling better about your decision.

Hang in there!! Brighter days (and more food choices) are just around the corner.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
