"Hi, my name is George" - says my tummy - did you name your sleeve?

Recommended Posts

Thought it might be fun to revisit a few old topics.

Did you name your tummy? Mine is George. I named him really early on because talked all the time ("burp", "gurgle", "gnnngggg", etc), I figured he needed a name.

I have not named my sleeve but find the idea quite enchanting, will need to give it some thought.

I read one post on here about names. The one I liked was "sleevie wonder". Thought it was hilarious!

I would have trouble naming mine because I am one of the few who have both the sleeve and bypass...I suppose I could call it Jekyll and Hyde....good and evil.....light and dark.....day and night....unlimited options..LOL

I named mine "Fred". Close to 10 months post-op, he still has some attitude.

I almost named mine Fred, but I have a plant named Fred. I was afraid I would confuse my plant :P

But now most day's she's just Sally.....I had just eaten the other day when I got a phone call, and Sally was singing away so loudly, that she could be heard on the other end of the cnversation....we had a good laugh

Squishy.

I shall call him squishy and he shall be mine and he will be my squishy.

Edit:

Squishy when she behaves. Sleeve Buscemi when she acts stupid.

I named her, Betty Poop. My real name is Debbie and people have heard it as Betty most of my life so it's kind of a nickname and I love Betty Boop, just changed the B to a P...well you know why ;)

I never thought of doing so. Nothing against anyone who has but it seems a bit weird to me.

I thought I was the only weirdo who named the new tummy! It seemed natural to name it because she is like this diva part of my body. I named her....SASHA FEARLESS lol because she is a diva (like Beyoncé...Sasha Fierce) but I am always fearless, hence we call her SASHA FEARLESS.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
