The famous question- Alcohol?

Recommended Posts

Here's my dilemma: I am my sister's Maid Of Honor and I planned her bachelorette party- which is a weekend away on the East end of Long Island's Wine country. I will be one month post op at the time of the trip. I would hate to go on a vine tour and not be able to at least SIP a tiny bit of wine at the tastings. Unless its harmful to me. Any advice?

I had a little wine at 3 weeks. For about 6 months I couldn't drink enough to get a good "buzz" but that has changes now that I'm 13 months out! At 3-4 weeks, I think a few sips is fine, but I'm not a doctor ....

My NUT told me absolutely no alcohol for one year, but then I was talking to my surgeon and telling her about my upcoming vacation and that I would miss my tropical drink on the beach and she told me a few sips of whatever I wanted was fine. I haven't had any alcohol yet, but I would have a few sips if the situation presented itself. Just being honest.

It's honestly too soon. I had to sign an agreement saying that I wouldn't drink for at least three months after surgery. Are the risks worth it to you? I'm sure that you could have a good time without it...?

My NUT said 4-6weeks, but with that, she did say nothing big or overdone!

My birthday was a month and a few days after my surgery and I sipped on a drink at dinner. I was totally fine, but one drink lasted way longer than before. I'm 6 months out now and still losing with no complications so nothing came of it.

I had my first sip of wine at 6 weeks and I was fine. it was a dark red wine so the few sips I did have gave me a bit of a buzz... just be careful and if it doesn't feel right, stop. i'm my best friend's MOH and her bach party is 3 weeks away and I plan on it being a very cheap night for me! :) enjoy but just be careful!

What kind of wine would be better?

I would just stay away from heavily carbonated wines like arbor mist....

arbor mist is a sparkling wine actually.... hence why they have merlot and moscato

I don't think it'll hurt you, then again I don't think it'll help you.

Just remember it'll take a lot less to get drunk so pace yourself. One sip wine one sip Water is what the nurse recommended at pre-op.

I had a wedding exactly 4 weeks out. I spoke to my Dr. And nut about it and they said a glass of white wine was ok and to mix w 1/2 Water. I've had another glass since and tolerated it well both times. There's a lot of opinions about this. Make sure you talk to your nut about it

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
