day 1 of pre op liquid diet...failed already..

Recommended Posts

My doctors office has me doing 4 protien shakes per day. I am also allowed sugar free Jello and popsicles. After eating the Soup tonight I do feel much satisfied than I did the previous two nights. I am going to do my very best to follow my doctors orders' date=' but I really appreciate your list of smart food choices in case I need other options. Thanks :-)[/quote']

You're welcome... Every office is so different but I figure they are all very similar.

Good luck!!

Feeling so frustrated. I have been doing okay on my liquid diet. I have been managing to do two shakes and and half a can of Soup, for a total of about 60 grams of Protein. I am getting very burnt out on my Protein Shakes and am extremely frustrated by that. I am doing well weight wise and have lost over 16 pounds, but I am feeling like such a failure. My mood has also plummeted. I am not feeling as excited as I was on the first couple of days. Not sure if this is something everyone goes through or not. Any advice would be appreciated.

What you're feeling is quite common. No carbs, lower calories, no caffeine, nothing to chew on, massive detox, fewer calories---it's quite the whammy. BUT. Something changes a few days into if and you feel so much better. Your energy level returns and you are back to normal. As long as you keep away from carbs and sugar after that, that high will take you through to surgery. Hang in there.

Thanks. I am on day six todayand I feel good, but I am so ready to eat something substantial. I am trying to remind myself that eating something substantial is what got me here. I think I am just going through the grieving process and am mourning the "freedom" of eating whatever I want whenever I want. This is the hardest thing I have ever done so far and I am only on the liquid diet. I am so grateful for this site though. It really helps to know I am not alone.

I was SO sure I was going to fail. I knew I would be that girl who couldn't do it and then this magic sleeve was going to fail me because I couldn't do a simple pre-op that everyone else could do...yadda yadda. Negative self-talk. Somewhere in there, it turned into a challenge to myself, and that's how I pushed through it. It's not easy bit it's doable.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
