Today is post op day 4. I had surgery wednesday. Anywho. I am doing good. Passing gas. Walking. Showering myself. EXCEPT not getting enough liquids down to go home. And I want to go home to my daughters. I know that if I go home the way I am I will be back her next day from dehyration. Just need words of encouragement. Also how much can u drink before u cant drink nemore 30ml? Then goe long do u wait to try again? I have a routine. I nap, wake up drink a bit, toilet, breathing exercises, walk, drink a lil more then Im tired again.

I'm on day 6 and I have been home since day two. Day three I was home with my two kids alone.they are six and one. I truly think being home helped me recover faster. I moved around more and slowly I regained my strength and my ability to drink more. Today I drank my first Protein Shake. Day six is awesome! God bless and I hope u come home fast to them. But also this is for u..and later for them.

Well to be honest I just fake sips here and there...from day two to day five. I can't believe I was able to drink this shake this morning.I was so excited then I pretty much cleaned my whole house and took care of three little girls this morning. (My niece slept over).how ironic is that! I really hated being in the hospital..people were walking in n out all the time I never slept. So from start to now I started at 259 and today I am 235. This includes the two week prior. I lost 10 lbs since being home. So day by day sip by sip..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
