My surgery is in two weeks. I'm so excited and am getting everything ready. I called my doc last month about changing my time-release meds I take every day. Of course, no response from my GP! I take Wellbutrin and Toprol and I don't know if I can take them after the surgery. They aren't that big-about the size of a regular Advil tablet. Can anyone advise me?

I take alot of meds and I was able to resume celexa and other pain meds with in 2 days of surgery.

Once your leak tests are cleared you should be good to go.

My Dr would not allow me to take any pills for the first 2 weeks. After that I could take my PPI and then a month or so later I could take my gallbladder pill. At 6 weeks I could take any meds/vitamins that the Dr okay'd in pill form.

You can't take anything for at least six weeks that can't be crushed or opened.

I take Wellbutrin too, and the doc said to get the non time released kind and crush them for 4 weeks.

You really need to discuss with your bariatric surgeon. He or she should be familiar with issues around time release meds postoperative and be the one to decide when you can begin swallowing pills. My program had me taking all pills except Calcium one day postoperative.
