Question regarding cc amounts in the first fill.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I forgot to add to my last post, hubby and I recieved 5 cc in our first fill. Is this a normal amount? I thought it was alot for the first one. I've read on so many posts that the first fills are only usually about 2 cc's....Is this normal for the TLBC? I'm so afraid to eat now. I don't want anything to get stuck....

Anyone know?

Thanks again,

Doriana

If you have you have a 10cc band that is normal for a first fill, at least that is what my dr told me, the second fill was just one 1cc to bring it up to 6cc. Hope this helps.

Well - keep in mind you're hearing about fills with different band sizes. My surgeon uses the 4cc and 10cc bands. Most people with the 4cc get 1-2cc for their first fill, and a half a cc each fill until they hit restriction. Most people with a 10cc band get 4-5cc their first fill, with a full cc after that until 7 (I think he said), then a half cc after. (By most I mean most that my surgeon does - I've asked him about his fill patterns)

My first fill was 1cc because I'd lost a lot of weight and he didn't want it coming off any faster. Second fill 3 weeks later was 1cc. Each subsequent fill has been .5 cc.

My doctor gave me 4 cc's the first fill, 1 cc the next and .5 on the third but he's pretty conservative. For a 10cc band that doesn't seem like an unreasonable first fill.

Doriana....unless there is some unusual circumstance (ie. you already feel restriction without a fill) TLBC always gives 5ccs as a first fill in the 10cc band. So, no worries.....you are right on track!!! It is DEFINITELY not .5ccs if you have the 10 cc band....migawd, it would take you years to feel restriction at that rate!

You're on track girl!!!! :clap2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
