I was in so much pain a few months ago...

Recommended Posts

This week, I'm a little over 2 months out from surgery. After light workouts for the last few weeks, tonight I went to a one hour Zumba class and it felt GREAT! I'm down 50 lbs, my hip pain is gone, my knee pain is gone, and working out feels like such a privelage. I remember wondering if, at 38 years old, I would ever be pain free again. Well, it is happening, and I was so grateful tonight while I was dancing that I almost cried right there in the gym! I am truly thankful that I am getting my life back, and this surgery is the best thing I've ever done for myself. Working out again ROCKS!!! What a difference a couple of months makes!

That's so great! Congratulations!

I noticed today that when I walking down stairs, surprise, my knees didn't hurt anymore. I could move faster than the young kids! Guess my couple of months of speed walking is working. I am going to try Zumba next!

I am so glad that you posted this. I am 1 week out and even though each day gets easier, I'm still in the "Why did I do this" stage. I am hopeful that at 2 months out this first week is just a memory.

Way to go with your success! :)

My pain was even alleviated the day after I got home from the hospital! Just the 10+ # from the preop helped my hips and ankles! I went to a party and mingled for 6 hours, standing periodically, and not shifting my weight or searching it a chair.

I am 3 weeks out and started Zumba last week, along with returning to Water aerobics. It's probs too soon for the demands of Zumba but I've made it thru 3 classes so I am trying to stick with it. It ain't easy, but with weight coming off, I know it will get easier quicker.

I am much more motivated with exercise now that I am not overstuffed with food each day. It makes a huge difference.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
