I haven't even had the surgery yet and I'm already worried about dieting after the band..........sheeeeesh, I act like my mom!!! At any rate, I wondered if anyone had used support system like Weight Watchers to help them be accountable and to track their weight loss after the surgery. When I was going before they would work with me on the diet plan that my doctor had put me on, and I'm sure they would do it again. Does that sound like a dumb idea?

Actually, I am currently attending Weight Watchers. Even though my points intake is much less than they require, I have been able to follow pretty closely with the core plan and it works. I find the support is most important and the accountibility helps me. Good Luck!!!

No question is dumb.

I have to say that a program like weight watchers is good because of the accountability and personal/face-to-face support.... But once you get past the healing phase and get a fill or two in your band, it probably won't be NECESSARY.

Restriction is a wonderful thing... If forces you to eat VERY slowly and you get that full signal a lot sooner because your stomach thinks you are full to the brim after only a little bit of food.

Of course, if you are the kind of person who responds particularly well to that support and accountability thing - then you may want to stay with WW forever. It's sort of whatever works for you.

The only rules are that you have to eat Protein first, then veggies and you have to drink your Water (but not during meals) and you have to CHEW and then Chew some more.

After that - you get to make all the decisions for yourself.

:]

I am actually using this site for accountability. I journal on here and post what I eat on this site. I also just created a my space just for my banding experience. Audree

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
