Return to work today after 1 week post op. so far so good

My surgeon authorizes up to 6 weeks, but won't sign off on less than 2.5 weeks - when you see him for your two week follow up (some people don't need the note to return and go back sooner). I went back four days after I started puree. I wish I had waited the full six (FMLA, short term disability) but on the other hand, having the schedule really helped me adjust to the fluids and eating regularly without the hunger feeling driving it (I'm back to being hungry now, though, bummer).

It really is individualized to how physical your job is, how you do with surgery (if you have issues with anesthesia, etc), and how quickly you adjust to the diet phases.

I just strongly suggest you don't start back on day one of any new diet phase. Too much at once.

I took 3 days off including surgery day. Was back to work from home for 1 week and back in the office the following week. I could have gone back mid week the week I worked from home but I wanted to take advantage of not being in the office.

6 weeks here. I have lifting job and couldn't have done it any sooner. Every one's situation is different.

I was off almost two weeks. I could have returned on the Monday after surgery (my job type isn't very physical) if I had been returning to my old job. However, I was starting at a new position at anew company and decided to take the extra week before starting.

I'm glad I took the extra week, since it allowed me to be more myself and a bit more high-energy while making those important first impressions! Also, with all the extra adrenaline pumping through me during the day and a significant mental challenge, I was pretty much worn out the first few evenings.

Took 2 weeks + 2 weeks vacation ... I'm currently almost 2 weeks out of surgery and would not like to be going back to work now ! I still fatigue easily - sometimes break into a cold sweat if I'm doing too much. One week is crazy - you will still be in some pain / discomfort/ dizzy/ numb feeling ?!

I'm 6 weeks out. Thought it was longer! Y disability is up today. I go back to work in 2 weeks and have one week after that of meetings and getting my classroom together. I teach 4 year olds...will have 20 with an assistant. I also have fibromyasia. My biggest concern, other than fatigue, is figuring out the food and drink. Can't eat in front of the kids.

I took 3 weeks, but 4 would have been ideal.

I had surgery on Thursday and returned to work on Tuesday. I had little pain, but was exhausted. I would recommend at least 7-10 days off, but everyone is different just listen to your body!

I had surgery on Thursday and went back for half a day that following Tuesday. I have a desk job so it wasn't too bad--I was just exhausted when I got home. Just make sure you don't push yourself too hard :)

I took 12 days off. I am a dental asst. I run around like a nut all day. Clean rooms, do instruments, sit and assist the dr, make phone calls, schedule pts, do all kinds of stuff but no lifting. I did fine. Was tired at the end of the day but was fine.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
