Hello everyone,

I'm getting sleeved on the 7th of august and I am on day 3 of my pre op diet. I'm reading 'weightloss' surgery for dummy's but it doesn't have much about the gastric sleve in there.

Can anyone recommend a book to read that will be helpful or inspirational while I try to take my mind off food?

Thanks in advance!

I have a book on my iPad called the big book on the Gastric Sleeve. It is excellent. I found it on Amazon.

I am also getting sleeved on 7th August. At Pindara Hospital on the Gold Coast. With Dr Nolan. I suspect you are somewhere in Australia as well.

I'm an August 7 sleever too. How is your liquid diet coming along? This is torture. I have been thinking ok do I really need this? I'm not THAT fat. I want to eat! I know if I just get through these 2 weeks ill be fine.

I'm going okay so far but it is pretty hard when I still have to cook and serve the kids food! I keep reading that it gets better after day 3. I hope so because I can't imagine doing this for 2 weeks!

There's the Big Book on Gastric Sleeve, and the one by the surgeon Dr. Guillermo Alvarez, both are really good. Both are available on Amazon, and the downloads are 9.99

I read "Successful Weight Loss with THE GASTRIC SLEEVE" by Dr. Guillermo Alvarez. You can order it on his site, Endobariatrics.com or Amazon. It's written simply, and gives you all the before and after information you need. I also purchased the book EAT IT UP, The Complete Mind / Body / Spirit Guide to a Full Life After Weight Loss Surgery, by Connie Stapleton, PHD. I haven't read it yet, I'm saving it to have something to read on my flights to and from Mexido. Dr. Alvarez's book deals with the neck down, and Stapleton's book deals with the neck up. Both equally important.

Thanks for these. I have just down loaded both. You can never learn too much! Every time I read something about it I learn or understand a little bit more. Day 4 of Pre op diet and doing OK!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
