Hi,

I like many that I see have to pay for this themselves. I am not sure that I am comfortable going to Mexico for this surgery. But I don't want to put my family in 20,000 debt either. I have heard about the doctor in CO does anyone know of any other doctors in KS, OK, or MO,because i am centrally located to these states, that have reasonable rates. I appreciate all information. Still trying to get information before I make the final decision. But if I don't do something soon, I feel like it will be too late for me. thanks.

There is a doctor in MI that posts on here that has a flat fee rate, his name is Dr. Pleatman. I would check out www.lapband.com and ask for a list of local surgeons, then start calling around. It will almost always be cheaper if they use a surgical center rather than a hospital. Also if you have insurance, some of the pre-op labs will be covered if you have your primary care doc order them. ~Mandy

Also, as a self pay you need to consider after care and look for a doc that does lots of fills as a part of your package, I am kind of disappointed that my doc only does 3 for free.

Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity in Nashville, TN offers Lap-Band surgery for $14,400, which is pretty decent for U.S. surgeons. There are three surgeons that work there.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
