Ok.. I have to lose over 100lbs. I am post op 2 weeks today. Veteran and new people that have lost over 100lbs and more.... how do you keep motivated to exercise? I live a hecked lifestyle and need motivation. I woke up today at 5 am to exercise and after I exercised I fell on the bed and relax.. for 30 minutes before I had to start my day. I have to admitted it felt good to get it out of the way. I kickboxing dance for 30 using my TV on demand.. Man did I get a workout!

I can't imagine working out without being in a class! You make friends, but even better, you stay motivated. The best part is that because you actually go regularly, you really will see an improvement EVERY time you go. Don't worry about what those veterans in the class are thinking. You will learn that they also maybe lost a lot of weight and really struggled when they first started. Anyone who makes the effort to be there is admired.

One of my go-to exercises is simply walking with my husband. We typically walk 3 miles and we can chat and catch up on the happenings with the kids and our days. It is pretty easy and I look forward to it each night. Maybe you could find a walking buddy. I also just started the 30 day squat challenge yesterday! Though it seems like its going to be a challenge I can do the squats while watching tv at home. So I guess my advice would be to try and find an exercise buddy and combine that with things that you can easily incorporate into your life. It's working for me so far!

I agree the class is better but sometimes running around including 45 drive home from work, cooking, taking son to football practice and getting the kids to sleep its hard to fit in the exercise. Unforunately, my husband is working nights temporary...

Thanks for the suggestions!

Congratulations on your first day of exercise! I am in a Water aerobics class at my local recreation center and have a personal trainer two times a week. I also use a treadmill at home. There are different reasons I am motivated to do each activity. The aerobics class is fun because it is easy on the joints and because, over time, my classmates have become my friends. The personal trainer is a commitment I keep every time because, not only is it good for me, but my being there or not makes a difference in another person's livelihood. I added the treadmill recently because I am going on a hiking trip to British Columbia, Canada, and want to make the most of the experience. I suggest that, if nothing else, you set a goal that will motivate you, a goal other than losing weight, such as mine for being able to hike exciting trails on my trip to Canada.

I have been walking but I am miserable while doing it. I have arthritis in my knees and can't take Aleve anymore and they are absolutely killing me especially while walking but all of the time because of the walking. I am going for my 6 week check-up next week and I am going to ask what I can get for some relief.

Maybe swimming might be a good alternative for you - it is good resistance training and no impact on joints.

I also have pain in my knees because of really bad arthritis. My doctor and surgeon have suggested Water therapy. I went to a Physical Therapy place where there is aquatherapy and because I have recently had two toe nails removed and they are not healed yet, they will not let me in the pool afraid of infection. I am waiting for last weigh in with PCP and then the surgeon's office can submit to insurance co. Next appt with PCP is Aug 9. Hopefully can get approved for late August or early Sept.

Yes, I have been swimming a few times this summer and it is much better. The problem is that I live in small town, USA and no pool available. My parents live in an apartment 30 miles away and I have swam there a few times but they have to be at the pool for visitors to use it so swimming is not an everyday option. I do love to swim and I was so sore after swimming so it is great exercise.

I am 2wks post op today too!! I'm doing well with food & Water. I know I need to exercise more. It has always been my brick wall. How much should I be doing at this stage? To make it worse I'm not a big fan of walking. So far been using recumbent bike. I want to try swimming too. How many laps are enough.

For Small Town, USA, I did get a good deal on EBay for a Gazelle. I need to bring it out of storage to use when I can't get to the gym. Maybe checking EBay or Craigslist would be an option for you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
