I'm in the same boat! It's funny how excited I am for this. It's like waiting for a wedding or something. I've found prepping my house and keeping busy keeps my mind off of it-- I already have my hospital bag packed! Ha. Good luck to you!

Hang in there both of you! I know it's hard - I can tell you for a fact that once you get your surgery date - the time FLIES by. I did all the same stuff that you are talking about - my hospital bag has been packed for months! I bought all my supplies for pre-op and post op. I'm two weeks out now (surgery on August 6th) and I'll tell you that now it seems like it was here before I knew it. The worst part is waiting for the surgery date, the enthusiasm is hard to contain! But it will happen...

I'm also sooo anxious and have never wanted anything so bad, I feel like I have researched over and over again. I am beyond ready for this. I have my endoscopy tomorrow, one more nutrition apt, then I get my date! It seems so far away but worth the wait I'm sure

Don't laugh! I have in my hospital bag - gas-x strips, chapstick, nightgown, underwear, and a heating pad! Pre-op I ordered lots of samples from different sights for the different types of Protein Shakes and that's what I'm using now on my pre-op diet to figure out which one's I like. I tell you some of them are really good and some of them are just absolutely gross! I've bought small containers, Bento boxes, a small microwave steamer, baby spoons and forks, tiny little fancy bowls and plates to make my miniscule little meals look special......Ha!!

I've got my surgery date (Aug. 26). But, it is contingent upon weather or not my insurance approves me. My bariatric team tried forwarding the info to my insurance on friday. The wait is killing me. My insurance is Iron Clad Insurance through the Boston Iron Workers Union. On the front of my card it says Iron Clad Insurance, Carelink PPO, Tufts Allied Care and Cigna. The bariatric team was having a hard time figuring out who to submit the info to. But it is my understanding that as of Monday it was officially submitted and received. I am wondering how long it's gonna take for the approval. I don't know anyone that has had wls that has my insurance. Well I am getting towards my 10,000 steps per day with all this pacing back and forth.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
