I was sleeved last week Tuesday (7/16), so I'm 6 days out & I'm **STARVING!** What's up with that??

I must be doing something wrong. Here I'll list what I've had today, maybe someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong:

Breakfast ~ (oops, this one is hard to list since I ate the reminder 1/8 of a container I had of Kroger's Private Selection Amber Honey Greek Yogurt) If I had eaten the entire yogurt, it would have been 11 grms of Protein but I hate it in increments yesterday.

Drank Water, drank water, drank water

lunch ~ Premier Protein shake, vanilla flavor, 30 grams of protein, mixed with 6 oz of Decaf coffee

Drank water, drank water, drank water

dinner ~ Yoplait 100 calorie Greek Lime flavored yogurt with 10 grams of protein

Snack ~ nectar Cappuccino Latte 24 grms protein, 100 Cal

If I can count all the liquids from the Protein drinks, then I've had 72 oz liquids & maybe 66 grms of protein? I'm just adding at the top of my head. Sorry if I'm off.

Shouldn't ALL THAT keep me full? I swear, right now I feel I could eat a sandwich! LOL! (J/K), but hungry enough to eat something!

Please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Spell it out because I'm sorta dense...just sayin'.

Thanks fellow senior sleevers!

Pixie, are you on any type antacid? Excess stomach acid can mimic hunger :-)

Yes it sounds good to me. The first couple weeks it's all about getting liquids in. Good for you that you are even getting Protein in! I didn't even start it until week 2. I didn't feel hunger until week 6, but then I started taking a PPI (omeprazole = generic prevacid) and now it's better. And YES eye hunger is a bear!!!!!

I was sleeved the same day and while I assumed Id be starving (as I was when banded 4 yrs ago), food sounds gross right now. Even made hubby bacon and eggs this morning and it smelled revolting. R u drinnkkng ur Protein shakes all at once? Im sposed to drink 3 oz at a time every hour during waking hrs. What I used to swig wkth 1 sip now takes about 5 to down.

Please don't eat the sandwich....feel for ya. I thought I might stare when I was anded

I was sleeved on the 15, and I'm surprised you can get all that in! Today was the first day that I was able to get an entire shake down within a half hour! Sounds like your doing awesome with your routine! It probably s only head/eye hunger. If you still feel really hungry, can you drink another shake, or a yogurt? Do you have a calorie limit for a day?

Try taking an antacid. I forgot to take mine one morning and felt hungry all day.

I was sleeves the same day also and today was the first day I met my Protein goal. Definitely take your ppi. I missed a dose yesterday and felt hungry and when I took missed dose went away. Also today I ate a cream based Soup (panera baked potato soup strained of course) and felt very full after. Ate about 2 oz and felt like a new woman!

I was also sleeved on the 16th and have had the same feeling. I feel very hungry, but having a hard time getting all my Protein in. Seems like if I was that hungry...I could get it all down. I have been taking Nexium since the day after surgery.

What always makes me 'hungry' is stomach acid. I HAVE to use a ppi so that I don't ruin my stomach again.

The other good suggestions are warm meals. Oh, and make sure you are getting in enough Protein. :0)

Good luck!

I too had surgery on the same day and not feeling hunger at all. Im doing 2 protien shakes, yogurt, cottage cheese and sometimes eggs. My problem is drinking Water, just seams I dont want to do it!!! Down 20pnds already since preop 7 day diet(ok more like a 5 day diet)!!! Healing nicely, havent had any pain since I came home from the hospital. Not sure why doctor says for us to take a month of work. Ill take it but I feel fine!!

Lurpa, Water has a lot of minerals and a high surface tension so it can be hard to tolerate after the sleeve. If you mix some crystal light with it, it lowers the surface tension and makes it easier to drink. :-)

Also, if I put a lot of ice in my Water it seems to taste better AND go down easier. For some reason it seems like I can take larger drinks, almost gulps without problems when its super cold. Could be just me though. Everyone is different, you're gonna hear that a lot!!! Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
