I am a huge dip fan. I now intend to eat low fat of course. I know I'm no way ready now as I am only 9 days post op, but just curious. I normally do pretzels as chips. No more! What is a good substitute? I know raw veggies are also a no no for awhile. Ideas???

I buy pita chips or organic veggie crisps and make my own Greek yogurt dip. I usually do a half a cup of Greek yogurt, 1/4 cup of mayo ( I do full fat but you can do low calorie if you prefer or leave it out completely) and add Lipton onion Soup mix to taste. It makes about 4-5 servings and is really good. Later you can use cucumbers as chips too. Or make your own potato chips. I saw in a magazine to slice the potatoes really thin, toss in olive oil and bake at 200 for 20-30 minutes. I haven't tried that but I will!

I found 'hummus crisps' delicious - I dip them in low fat/low cal egg, chicken, tuna or crab salad, bean dip, hummus.

I bought them at Walmart and Winn Dixie ( so I'm pretty sure you can find them at your local stores too)

When you are cleared to have everything - these are a healthy, yummy treat.

I found that Kashi makes them

17 crisps

130 calories

20 carbs (a little high but I'm four months out and don't eat 17 of them lol)

4g Protein

Quaker makes them too ( I liked these better)

16 crisps

120 calories

15 carbs

2g Protein

So yum! I also do veggies too in low fat dressing

I also know a recipe that I have tried to up protein -

I took Fagè plain Greek yogurt ( no flavor ) about 4 tbsp and mixed it with a 1/2 pack of hidden valley ranch powder and it makes for a protein packed dip good with veggies, meat, and hummus crisps!

:)

Good luck!

Pita chips sound amazing too! My hubby does make home made chips so I'll eat those too...maybe a bit less oil. Keep the ideas coming!!!

Made my own pita chips out of Joseph's flax and whole wheat pita. Cut them into triangles and lightly sprayed them with olive oil Pam and added a little sea salt. Baked them in the oven. Low carb, good Fiber. Good with humus.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
