to those who experienced the 3 week stall

Recommended Posts

I know this is common and I know it gets asked about a lot, but to those of you who went through the 2,3 or 4 week stall, how long did it last? Did you do anything specific to shift out of it, or did it just more on its own?

I've been losing and gaining the same pound for 9 days-I will be 4 weeks on Thursday. I've been patient until today...but now I'm annoyed. :(

I know you are annoyed but dont lose heart! The scale WILL move! Just give it a little more time and all at once it will drop! No way that it cant! Try to just wait a little while and dont step on the scale (easier said than done, coming from a lady that weighs herself 2 times a day! haaha) Dont get discouraged it will move!

I stalled for two weeks. Try and up your Protein intake to get things moving.

I'm 4 months out, and have had 4 2-week stalls in that time, including one around the 2-3 week mark. I'm still down 71 lbs in 4 months despite those stalls. Once they broke, the weight started flying off, then would slow down, then another stall. You can't expect it to happen in a straight line. I didn't do anything to break the stalls, they broke on their own.

I'm 13 days out from surgery. I lost 25 pounds in the 4 weeks pre-op Optifast, and have only lost 12 more pounds since surgery. I haven't budged in a week. I'm riding my bike or walking every day, drinking 64 oz. of Water, and eating 750-800 caliries a day. What gives?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
