  1. 1. Besides weight loss, what has been the biggest benefit since getting surgery? If you haven’t had surgery yet or if you just got it, what are you most looking forward to?

I'm finding it MUCH easier to stick with a wheat-free diet since being sleeved. I'm intolerant to wheat and being wheat-free for me means, no joint pain and I'm off my thyroid medication now. Apparently, the inflammation has left the building!

I am only 8 days out but already I am off long acting insulin, and my sugar is running normal so that is an awesome blessing for me.

My mother-in-law had to finally say I looked very nice (after 20 yrs)!

Seriously, off the BP meds, and my severe disc degeneration is 100% times better. I can actually move without pain now! Best thing I ever did.

Love the confidence boost and loved the gain in a curtain area haha

This. Just need to translate all this confidence to the Ladies.

My bp went from 170/100 to 109/60.

Getting non stop compliments. My knee PA who haven't since way before surgery was full of joy over my weight loss saying how I've taken off 4lbs per knee (stress on the knees) for every 1b loss. Yay

I'm Happy!

I'm looking forward to playing sports, being active outdoors, and having flexibility again. I'm looking forward to "getting around" a lot better. And I'd like to go to the beach again! i avoid it like the plague now.

Wow! I didn't know one could come off thyroid meds by losing weight? Hope this happens to me!

Health, moblity, increased paricipation and less of a spectator, less self conscious and more self confident.

It's a blessing.

I have lost 97 lbs. in ten months. I would have to say that the improvement in my health trumps all of the other awesome things that vsg has brought into my life. It has been the best decision of my life.

The biggest benefit for me has been the relief I have felt knowing that this was for me. I was overweight since I was a small child. My parents sent me to fat camp when I was in 4th grade. I lost weight, gained weight, lost weight, and gained weight so many times. No more yo-yoing for me. :)

I'm going to be having the surgery in November. Some of the things I'm looking forward to have already been said, like being able to run around with my 3 boys, fitting in chairs easier, and being healthy. I'm also looking forward to being able to get down the aisle of the school bus when I go on field trips with my boys. Also hoping to lose this hip and lower back pain. Sometimes I feel way older than 33. I'm just so over it!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
