Hello everone.. I'm 3 and a half weeks post op. and feel pretty good, Dr. Tersigni here in Oregon did my lap-band. Does anyone have any good ideas for an excersize program for someone with hurting knee joints?

Hey Jerry

I have always been a swimmer. I go to Bally's and walk and jog in the pool. It is great exercise and everyone there really supports me. I also swim laps.. I really miss it, and I haven't been since I was banded (Nov 17) and my first fill was last week (Dec 28). Really give it a try, your legs will get strong very fast and it will also help you tone up and loose weight. Good luck on your journey!:clap2:

Hi Jerry, I am not banded yet, but I have knee problems as well. I have found that the elliptical machine works really good for me. There is no pressure on my knees and you burn a lot of calories.

Glad to hear you are feeling well and good luck with your band!!!

Thanks for the advice and the encouragement, I've yet to have my first "FILL" I feel I do need one though, since I don't feel very full on the 3OZ. of food at each meal. I wish there was something I could have that would fill me up without gaining weight. I just started on solid food yesterday, 3 oz. 3 times a day. NOT MUCH FUN!!!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
