Hi there everyone! I am scheduled to be sleeved at the end of August. YAY!! My concern is I am a fulltime college student and I'm wondering if I will be able to attend school for the fall semester since I will be just coming out of surgery when the semester begins. Any info you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Blessings!!

I'm out two days and can only manage to sip and walk. I am very tired. Remember we are not able to get in much of anything. 48 oz was my goal this week and that includes Protein and Water. I can't imagine trying to do schoolwork right now. Plus my eyes go cross eyed on this medicine sometimes lol

Had I been a student, I think I could have gone back to school after one week.

I was going to go back to school 2 weeks after surgery. I decided not to because learning to work this sleeve will be an education in and of itself. Spring semester starts in January 2014. I think by then I should have evrything under control

I can't imagine going anywhere or doing anything for at least 2 weeks post op - but that is my experience. I work from home and have not been able to restart working and I am almost 3 wks post op.

I think it depends on your internal drive and how you tolerate things. As an ER nurse, I was ready to go back to work in 5 days. Some people don't recover as quickly. It's a very individualized thing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
