Awesome news. Little secret, I didn't let me PCP know and was still cleared. Good luck, though!

My insurance requires me to have a letter from my PCP. Is that normal?

Every insurance is different. I have Aetna and I really didn't have a PCP before my gallbladder issue. I never went to dr unless I was very sick. I did go after my gallbladder for a checkup and he said I was completely healthy. Crazy! I still did surgery and not once did the PCP thing come up. I would talk to him/her about what you want to do and give your reasoning. Not sure why they would be against it.

I too have Aetna. I don't know why my Dr's Insurance coordinator said I needed a letter from my PCP, but she did. Should I make an appointment to see him or just call his office and ask them to send a letter to my surgeon.

Tomorrow is my 1st NUT appointment. Since this is the case, does that mean I can submit for approval 8/3 (91 days?) After that what is the process? Allow 14 days for approval and then schedule the surgery? That would mean I could possibly be around the 1st of NOV? I would love to do it sooner, but need advice how, if it is possible.

My main concern is I am healthy and able to enjoy my Christmas.

As long as they stay on top of the ball and keep it rolling. I guess you could try calling and if they say they can't, then schedule the appt with your PCP. If they do it on November 1st, you will be well enough to enjoy your Christmas. I had to do 4 months supervised dietician visits, psych consult, then labs. I ended up switching surgeons because the first set didn't keep the ball rolling and after the first surgeon finally got my records transferred, I was approved and having surgery in like less than 2 months.

I have a 90 day waiting period. Do you have to wait till the end of your 90days to get approval.

I went to the lake this weekend and could not put on a "XX" Life Jacket  oops. No huge deal' date=' I am used to it and it is normal. I check the rides at universal studios to make certain I can fit in the seats then makeup an excuse not to ride it, if there is a chance it will be tight... My BMI is 41 and I am decent health, but I can feel myself getting older and my health is starting to not be as good as it was 2 years ago. I have 3 levels in my home and get tired walking up the stairs :). My last SUPER SERIOUS weight loss was 26 lbs last year, but it is all back... I am certain you understand.... My wife is starting to put pressure on me about my weight and she is right. Also, I want to be able to do things I used to do. However, I am SO SCARED of this process. I am scared of the liquid diet... How can you eat liquid for a month. No wonder you loose weight you are on a liquid diet. If I only ate liquid for a month now I would feel like I was gonna die and loose a lot of weight. I love to eat a steak dinner and have wine with my wife, will I give that up forever? I like to sit on the front porch and drink a beer and talk to my wife, will that be gone forever? My insurance will cover it, but I honestly am scared... If I ever reach my "Ideal Weight" how do you eat 2,000 cals a day to build/keep muscle when you stomach is gone... This is a difficult thought process for me and it feels like the weak way out. If I do it, I don't want to tell anyone except my wife and father (they will take care of me out of the hospital). Anyone have any thoughts?[/quote']

You won't eat 2,000 calories a day at goal you will eat 1,200 unless you are exercising like crazy

4 Months? I thought it was 90 days

I have Aetna as well and they required three nutritionist visits, three visits to an exercise specialist and a visit to a psychologist. My doctors office also required mandatory classes that I had to take. I was on the three month fast track and in the end it really took six months. Good luck on your journey.

Completely different than what I had to do. Another crazy thing! Same insurance, different requirements. Mine took a year, but only because of my switching facilities and then my dang gallbladder. So glad it is all done!

FP9107 -

What you described is exactly what I need to do. I hope it doesn't take me 6 months. I am pushing to get it done prior to the holidays in enough time to be healed for Christmas.

I had like 5 appts in one day and they were all in the same place to get lab work, EKG, chest x-ray, and dietician visit. If everything is in one place, you can knock out a lot in one. Also, I made mine work around my work schedule and your job can't tell you that you can't go to a doctor's appt no matter how many you have.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
