I too did my session with UMASS I just got my date for September 24th. I also had to do the six months for my insurance. SUEJH has been a great help with me. By all means ask questions.

I went to BIDMC and Dr Scheider was my surgeon. He is excellent.... And Michelle (nutrition) and Erin (nurse) are fantastic. I'm 10 months out and down about 117 I think (haven't weighed myself in a couple weeks) since the start if my pre op diet. Couldn't be happier!

Diamond3 and nadoue, when did you guys finally feel like you could eat somewhat normally? I'm 13 weeks out and still can barely get in 3 oz of Protein at a time. Then I usually don't have any room for a bite of veggies or carbs.

Also, hair loss. Did you both experience it and when did it slow down? Mine started about 2 weeks ago maybe. I see so much hair in the shower every morning and it pulls out as I brush my hair and put my mousse in.

Thanks in advance!

I started taking Biotin. It is supposed to support healthy skin, hair and nails. We'll see if it helps any!

I am natural and braided my hair for the first three months, but I started seeing my Hair loss by 4-5 months. I tried to be compliant with my Vitamins and Protein and that was it for me. At 2 years out I got very good restriction and I can eat one small chilli from Wendy's now. Of course I am so stuffed after that I literally crawl in bed. But you will start feeling all better by 3 - 4 months. I can't tell you to keep up with exercise cause I didn't. I really got serious after a year????. Listen to your body, everyone is different????

Oh, that's the first I heard about nails! I knew the hair thing was inevitable.

I know what you mean about the crawling in bed thing after eating sometimes! All it takes is that last bite to get in all my Protein and I just need to lie down and relax for a while until that feeling goes away. I obviously don't mean for it to happen, but when it does, wow!

Sue, lots of ppl don't pay attention to their nails but if you want you can actually see them getting brittle and thin just like your hair. But we are women so we are more focused on our hair ????

For me I'm not sure when the intense restriction subsided..... I still feel it but can eat what I think is a pretty normal volume of food regardless of what it is. Take lots and lots of b.... I do a B12 and Biotin twice a day above the recommended Vitamins. I have had alopecia areata in the past and wanted to keep Hair loss to a minimum. So far it's worked for me.

On another note.... As of today I'm down 125 pounds and I'm 20 pounds away from my healthy BMI goal..... Six weeks from my one year surgiversay! (Feeling happy!!!!)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
