JUNE 10, 2013, MY BEGINNING

Recommended Posts

WELL, thank God for the wonderful age of computers. At least there is a place to go and confer with people who are walking this walk. As you can see from the title of this, I had my sleeve done June 10th. Not quite 3 weeks into it, and I can say that for the most part I have felt sad, overwhelmed and lost. Not that I can blame anyone! I just think it is my way of adjusting. I have grieved over food, unsure of how to get enough Protein, and not really enjoying much of anything that goes into my mouth. It is all about getting your mind right most people who HAVE NOT gone through this tell me, but I guess I have not yet been able to completely do that. I have lost a total of 22 pounds since my highest weight and I think about 17 since leaving the hospital. Now in the past few days I seem to have stalled. My nurse scolded me for getting on the scale every day, maybe twice a day...lol. I tend to be impatient in case you can't tell. I am approaching the puree phase, and almost scared maybe my loss will slow even more...personally, I think this thought is just from my past failures. You know, lose 20, stop, gain 30..that same old story, I guess I have a lot to learn. Looking forward to doing just that as I frequent these forums. :-)

Dr Choban is my doctor too!! I can imagine Sheila getting on to you about weighing too much. :)

I am still preop (for a few more days anyway) but from what I have heard, a stall in the 2-3 week period is normal. I agree though about how past failures cause us to worry about the future and the potential to fail there too. But as they say- they operate on your stomach, the head work is up to us!

I would love to chat more, since you are straight from Dr Choban and MCW. I'm getting ready to go there really soon!!

Hi, my surgery was on june 10th also, I lost 12 prep and only 6 after surgery.. So I decided to remove the scale from the bathroom and ask my daughter to hide it. Every one that does not know about my VS is surprise about how thin I look ,so I just take the complements and pretend I just doing this by myself, hahaha. I will wait to my next doctor's appointment on July 24th to get in to an scale again.. I do not want to torture myself with it...

You are going through the dreaded 3 week stall, do not worry it happens to most people. Everyone gets over it and goes on to lose more weight. One your journey you might have a few stalls, for some people they last days and for others weeks! They are frustrating but have patience and perseverance and you will be fine.

I was sleeved on June 10th and getting back to a normal routine. I have weighed myself twice a day since I ve been home, that my husband has taken it away! I was a basket case 4 days after surgery wondering if I made the right decision as this is for life... I called a friend who've had the switch thingy and slowly i recovered. I am loving the fact that I dont eat a lot to feel full! I cant finish the 4oz gerber jar of baby food...

I am nervous about having the surgery also. But I need to do something to get this weight off. Through the process I have made three goals for myself. The first one is to get off my high blood pressure meds. The second is to get off my CPAP machine. The third one is a little strange, but I told my husband after I have lost all my weight I want to shopping at Victoria Secret. He thought I was a little strange, but didn't say anything negative. I also found that if I write in my journal a couple of times a week, it helps to get me through the anxiety.

OMG, I have felt the very same way! I still look at foods that I loved and think, I will never put that in my mouth again! This journey was never meant to be easy but in the long run it will pay off. I amlooking forward to going to the gym and burning some fat!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
