Constant Vomiting

Recommended Posts

I wasn't plannig on getting the band unfilled once goal I was just going to get it loosened a bit. I have a 4cc band and am 3CC filled. So I thought maybe if I loosened it a little I could maintain my goal weight.

I am very aware of what I am risking and I am working at this everyday of my life. I already have a counceling appointment for the 11th, this counceling group also does group sessions with my surgeon for lap band patients for sopport groups which I may attend as well. I am not quite sure if my band is too tight or if I am just tring to eat to much to fast to quickly.

Cherg - there are times when I get sick more than others. It is usually for the following reasons....I am eating something my band cannot tolerate (dry meat, bread, etc), not chewing enough or taking small enough bites and not drinking enough Water in between meals. Junk food always goes down fine, so be careful not to resort to it.

I think you will still get to 140 if you stop vomitting. I consistently lose about 10 lbs per month and we were banded in the same month. I would start with therapy as soon as possible. Deal with issues now and not put them off for your goal weight. You can still lose weight while dealing with things and it will be healthier for you.

I've always wanted to know why junk food goes down fine. Can you please tell me?

Hello to both of you. I was banded in June of 09 and have been fine untill this past November. I have EXTREME restriction, I think, durning my period. Not even liquids stay down. Sometimes there is a window durning that time when I can keep down a slimfast or ensure. I will be going to see my surgeon next Monday to ask him to loosen me. Hopefully that's my issue. But I know where you are comming from with the vomiting everyday. For a whole week that is my routine, and I wanted to know if you had any suggestions?

Thanks all but does anyone else get sick daily??

I do. I have had the band since 06. I started at 288. I lost 85 lbs in the first year. I wanted to lose a total of 140 lbs. In the last 8 months or so. I throw up after every meal. I am in pain after I eat no matter what I eat. I sometimes hurt so bad I make myself throw up. You would think that I would be at goal like that but noooooo I am back up to 265. I think because it hurts so bad to eat that I end up with cold smooth food for relief...ie.. ice cream, sherbet, puddings...

My husband now is after me every day to find out what it will cost to get the band removed. I am miserable all the time now. I have recently started with heartburn (which I NEVER had before). I am more depressed now than when I started. I feel awful all the time. I dread mealtimes.

Any advise of any kind will be greatly appreciated. I don't know what happened but I do know that I can't live like this.

boatright:

is there any reason you are not planning a call this week for a follow-up consultation or exam?

Certainly if I had such issues I wouldn't hesitate to do such.

Please keep us updated on your progress.

I suffered being 'too tight' for about 8 months and that produced some similar complaints. After a consult and a tiny adjustment, all that went away.

Now nearly 6 years postOp, I remain a Happy Bandster. Hope you can find a way to solve your issues soon.

I was having some of these issues for quite awhile (probably 8 months myself). Ive gotten back on track, as I had also been eating foods that slipped right through. I moved, and so I made an appointment with a surgeon closer to where I now live (my original surgeon referred me). Jack - after the 8 months, when you had the adjustment, had you done any damage to your band or stomach? I'm deathly afraid that my band has slipped or I have stretched my pouch. Just praying that I havent.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
