Fomal appt before surgery!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone . I am Jen and I am scheduled for surgery on 6/25. I had my final appt today and received my post op instructions . After I read them through I started to panic !! I have 6 year old twins and I am wondering how I will make this work! Only eating a few spoons of food? Any sleevers out there with young kids who ate with their families in the first weeks post op? Any tips on how to navigate family meals? I hope I am not making a mistake . I have lost 40 lbs pre op (since January ) and I have 100 more to go. Pre op diet is Atkins phase 1 , but I have been low carbing since Jan . So much going through my head...maybe your kind words will keep me focused!!

This is absolutely a great thing to do for you and your wonderful twins. Think about how much longer they'll have mama because of this. Plus how much more you'll be able to experience with them. Being nervous and scared is normal, and we all know it isn't going to be an easy journey but you have two more wonderful reasons than I did for doing this!

I'm completely with you on this! My surgery date is 26 June and I have a 4 yr old son. I was really confident in my decision until I got my surgery date and now I am a nervous wreck! I would be happy to swap ideas post surgery unfortunately I don't have any suggestions right now. I wish you all the best with your surgery, imagine all the energy you will have and how much more fun it will be with your children post op! I'm trying to stay focused on that right now.

:)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
